One of my favorites vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Cairns, located in the CBD called Root Vegetarian, on lake street at the end of “THE WALK” alleyway. The location will make you forget that you are in town. So it is very quiet and you can smell the food from the entrance of the alleyway.
Root vegetarian offers seated areas indoor and outdoor, able to fit three people. moreover, the atmosphere is pretty chilled with acoustic music, if you want to do some work on your laptop there’s one spot with socket plugs. With a raw design and setup, the counter and wooden wall behind it is definitely my favorite part! The Root Vegetarian is a vegetarian and vegan Asian-style restaurant that offers a buffet-style display. They update their menu every week on Facebook and Instagram.
The menu is simply composed into two parts:
First, the “ROOT Bowl”: this option lets you compose your own bowl for $11.99 with two options and $15.99 with three options between, fried rice, rice noodles, salad, curry, and other options that may vary. These options are updated on their social media.
Second, snacks, you have sushi rolls and spring rolls, veggie fritters, buns, samosas, paratha, “chicken skewer”, dumplings, or sometimes vegan “prawn” chips
I personally tried the Root Bowl choosing the rice noodles with vegetables, fried rice, the spicy tofu curry, and added a samosa.
